The lumbar region contains a much larger area than known. The area extending from the scapula to the bottom of the gluteal folds enters the waist. Therefore, many pathologies can cause low back pain. There may be many causes of low back pain. Although the most common is herniated discs (disc herniations), this constitutes only 4-5% of all low back pain. The most common cause is the strain of the muscles, ligaments and joints, posture and posture disorders, especially in the lumbar region. However, many causes such as congenital anomalies, ankylosing spondylitis, a number of rheumatic diseases, traumatic causes, calcification in the lumbar region, bone diseases, brucellosis, tuberculosis infection diseases, cancers and pain reflected from internal organs can cause low back pain.

In many of them, clinical symptoms may differ (such as the relief of pain with rest, or relaxation with movement, accompanied by fever, night sweats, weakness, fatigue complaints, muscle weakness and sensory impairment, and urinary incontinence). serious laboratory, radiological and electrophysiological examinations may be required for diagnosis. From time to time, the high number of underlying causes and the fact that some of them have to be diagnosed and started the treatment make it difficult. However, in some cases, clinical diagnosis can be made and treatment can be started quickly.

Although treatment varies according to the underlying cause, successful results can be obtained with pharmacological treatments, exercise options and physical therapy methods in the vast majority of cases.
