Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis, which is a degenerative joint disease, is known as calcification among the people. It is the most common joint disease in people over the age of 50. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint in the body. The joints that it most commonly affects are the hands, hips, knees and spine.
In osteoarthritis, disruption in the articular cartilage structure occurs. As a result, changes occur in the bone tissue below the articular cartilage. Bone growths and protrusions at the edge of the joint disrupt the normal structure of the joints, causing limitation in movements and pain.
The most common complaint is pain; unfortunately, it occurs when cartilage damage occurs enough to reduce joint mobility. Since there is no nerve in the cartilage, it does not cause pain or any other complaint until an inflammatory soft tissue response occurs in the joint due to overload. The pain triggered by the activity decreases at rest.
As calcification progresses, limitation of movement, tenderness and feeling of crepitation or friction may develop. When more load is placed on certain parts of the joint, the joint expands and moves towards the dull joint.
Calcification problems; It has been considered as a result of the normal aging process over the years. As the cartilage tissue cannot be renewed, the treatment was expected to be result-oriented and temporary. However, it is now possible to reduce pain, maintain joint flexibility, and improve joint and general functions in calcification treatment with PROLOTHERAPY, PRP, IN-JOINT OZONE applications.
