EMG Biofeedback

Biofeedback applications; informs about normal or abnormal physiological events that are not known and belong to the person, usually by electronic devices and often by producing visual and audio signals. Biofeedback systems are a treatment system that allows the person to be aware of body functions and change these functions voluntarily by using this information. EEG Biofeedback (Neurofeedback) and EMG Biofeedback; It takes place in a wide area in physical therapy and rehabilitation applications. Biofeedback applications enable conventional exercises to be performed more efficiently and purposefully by providing demonstration, measurement and control of the physiological events that the patient cannot feel, in groups of patients using therapeutic exercises. In physical therapy and rehabilitation applications, it is used in many subjects such as motor development, balance and coordination training, walking training, spasticity reduction, general relaxation, treatment of bladder and bowel dysfunction.

EMG Biofeedback is an increasingly updated approach to the solution of stress incontinence in women. The weakening of the pelvic floor muscles and external sphincters in women leads to urinary stress incontinence. These patients can be helped by sensing the bladder volume and strengthening the voluntary contraction of the pelvic floor muscles and the external sphincter muscles. Pelvic floor muscles training is also successful in children with voiding disorders.

A side effect related to biofeedback applications has not been detected to date.
